Indochino traveling tailor in miami
Indochino's Traveling Tailor pop-up has set up shop at McCormick Place.

Launched by a couple of guys who were frustrated by how difficult it was to get a custom suit at a decent price, Indochino is an online service that helps you take your own custom suit measurements, whips them into a bespoke suit made in Shanghai, and ships it to you within five weeks. But if the idea of taking 14 of your own measurements sounds like making 14 of your own mistakes, fear not. Indochino's Traveling Tailor pop-up shop is in Miami through this Sunday.

At the pop-up, someone sophisticated will take all your measurements, tap them into a Smartphone, and walk you through myriad customizations. Three tiers of fabric pricing allow you to get away with a custom suit for as little as $450, while the most you’ll spend is $800 and change for their Premium fabrics. They’ve even got some Miami-only color choices, like a rather satiny blue that Sammy Davis Jr. would have gladly rocked.

Every inch of your Indochino suit can be customized.

Once you choose a fabric, it's time to customize your jacket: classic or narrow lapels, notched or peaked? One vent or two? Flap pockets? A streamlined one-button look or up to three? You can also pick your liner color, monogram it, and put contrast stitching on the buttonholes. An especially nice touch is pick-stitching on the lapel.

Once you’ve made all your choices, Indochino runs your measurements into their special fitting algorithms to create a bespoke suit pattern. The garment shows up in about five weeks, and if you need another suit down the line, you can hop on the website; they’ve got your measurements, which you can adjust if you’ve trimmed down or bulked up, and just pick your options.

Fabric options range from boardroom to Rat Pack.

If it’s more than a suit you’re after, the pop-up also has custom shirts (choose fabric, collar, and cuff style), as well as ties, tie bars for ties of various widths, cuff links, and pocket squares.

Traveling Tailor is open through Sunday, Feb. 16 at McCormick Place (111 SW 3rd St., Miami), 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekdays, Saturday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Click here to make and appointment.
