Colombian Youth Philharmonic

See Colombia's most talented young musicians on stage at the New World Center this Friday.

The Colombian Youth Philharmonic will make Miami history on Friday, July 26, becoming the first Latin American orchestra to perform at the New World Center. The concert will feature nearly 100 exceptionally talented young musicians between the ages of 16 and 24 from across Colombia, all clad in black ensembles and brightly colored sneakers.

This Friday's performance will also mark the official close of the New World Center's fourth season. Veteran conductor Alejandro Posada will lead the evening's musical journey, with four orchestral pieces by Igor Stravinsky, Cristóbal Halffter, Sergei Rachmaninoff, and Ottorino Respighi.

Despite being founded just three years ago, the Colombian Youth Philharmonic has already garnered a tremendous amount of international exposure through Colombia's Promotion Plan Abroad. The kids, who will also pay a visit to mayor Tomas Regalado during their stay in Miami, come from various socio-economic backgrounds and have all auditioned amongst peers at the top of their musical game to earn a spot in the group. Tickets to the performance at the New World Center are available online with a handling fee of $6. 500 17th St., Miami Beach, 305-673-3331
