15 Steps: Recommended by Dean Max and Joe Mizzoni
“I really like 15 Steps for their innovative seafood,” says chef Dean Max of DJM Restaurants. Chef Joe Mizzoni of The Brasserie in Grand Cayman, and formerly of 3030 Ocean in Fort Lauderdale, respects their commitment to sourcing from the Miami area: “They feature local ingredients with a collaboration of interesting and well-balanced flavor. The small plate concept is great for enjoying a variety of innovative dishes.” 4525 Collins Ave., Miami Beach, 305-674-5594

Casablanca: Recommended by Sunny Oh and Michel Pirolo
“It’s all about the fried or grilled fish,” recommends Juvia chef Sunny Oh. Owned by third generation fishermen, Casablanca overlooks the Miami River and is both a fish store and a restaurant. “They always have great local catch and the prices are insane—good insane,” says chef Michel Pirolo of Macchialina Taverna Rustica. 404 N.W. North River Drive, Miami, 305-371-4107

Stanzione 87: Recommended by Clayton Miller
Chef Clayton Miller of Yardbird passes along his recommendation for this new Italian restaurant. “It is farm-to-table and they are famous for their classic Neapolitan pizza. It’s delicious.” The pizza is cooked in a wood-burning oven and you can choose either red, white, or special pizzas that feature their charcuterie. 87 SW 8th St., Miami, 786-360-1852

Hy Vong: Recommended by Michelle Bernstein, Norman Van Aken, and Michael Pirolo
This Vietnamese restaurant is where you’ll see chefs Norman Van Aken (Tuyo), Michael Pirolo (Macchialina Taverna Rustica), and Michelle Bernstein (Michy’s). Michelle recommends ordering the Banh Cuon, or pork rolling cakes. “They’re soft, warmed rice paper that she makes herself with chunks of ground pork on the inside [with] caramelized shallots, ginger, and it’s sitting in a pool of the most delicate type of warm nuoc mam you’ll ever have. Her fish with lemongrass and mango is also great, but my favorite is the beef with handmade rice vermicelli noodles and peanuts.” 3458 S.W. 8th St., Miami, 305-446-3674
