Local emerging artist non-profit Miami's Independent Thinkers will host a silent art auction this Friday, June 7 to help raise funds for its 2013 Art Basel initiatives. Though the group helps sustain an array of multi-genre creatives, Friday's auction will zero in on selected works by 50 painters, mixed media artists, muralist, and photographers. Among the participants are Atomik, Carla Fache, Ernesto Kunde, Lebo, Mayleen Gonzalez, and Ted VanCleave.
During last year's Basel festivities, Miami's Independent Thinkers hosted a four-day satellite fair—brimming with emerging art, live music, and local food—inside The Armory Studios. This Friday's event will be presented in association with Bronzewall Development. Guests will enjoy refreshments by Peroni, Vita Coco, and downtown's The Corner, as well as performances by local indie dance legend Grace Jones and Miami Dance Theatre instructor Vanessa Caamano. Meanwhile, DJ Peoples, Rage Johnson, and DJ V will man the decks. Bids kickoff at 7 p.m. and will continue until 11 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public. 1035 N. Miami Ave., Miami
