The Barbecue Bloody Mary at Tongue & Cheek
Fans of HBO's True Blood are practically foaming at the mouth over the series' anticipated season six premiere on June 16. Perhaps someone you know is even hosting a viewing party? Whether watching with a crowd or alone on the couch, we recommend having a tasty Bloody Mary at arm's reach. Here, two renditions from area restaurants Tongue & Cheek and The Local House.
Tongue & Cheek's Barbecue Bloody Mary

1 ounce Woodford Reserve bourbon
1 part pastrami spice
1 part Worcestershire sauce
6 parts fresh milled tomato Juice
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup mirin (Japanese sweet wine)
Combine all of the ingredients for the Bloody Mary base mix in a mixing glass with barbecue sauce and shake well. Separate four ounces of Bloody Mary barbecue mixture, combine with vodka and bourbon, and shake well and strain over fresh ice. Pickled vegetable garnish. (Optional: dehydrated corn powder rim)
The Local House Bloody Mary
400 Ocean Dr., Miami Beach, 786-230-8396
22 ounces of tomato juice
8 ounces Guinness
1 1/2 ounces vodka
1 tsp. Tabasco
1 tsp. horseradish
1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp. celery salt
1 tsp. coarse ground pepper
Combine all ingredients, shake well, and strain into a large Mason jar with fresh ice. Olive, celery stalk, and lime garnish.
